HOUSTON—A 72-year-old business owner was airlifted to the hospital Friday afternoon after being shot during a robbery in northwest Harris County.
The man was getting out of his vehicle outside of his check cashing business in the 9500 block of FM 1960 at Perry around 1 p.m. when he was approached by an armed suspect.
The victim had just returned from the bank and police believe he may have been followed.
The suspect shot the man in the stomach, grabbed some money, then fled the scene in a gold-colored Buick Century.
The owner returned fire, but does not know if the suspect was hit.
The victim was taken by LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann Hospital. His condition was not known.
The shooting happened near a day care center, but no one there was hurt.
