HOUSTON-You can see a performance like you've probably never seen before this weekend at Discovery Green Park in downtown Houston.? The act is called Strange Fruit. They are stilt dancers from Australia. They perform Friday night at 8 p.m. and then again at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Saturday night.? On Sunday, Strange Fruit performs at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. It is free, and remember at Discovery Green you can bring lawn chairs, food, blankets -- even the dog. No glass containers are allowed.? Beer and alcohol may be purchased at the park.

Also this weekend, the nationally known moms-helping-moms consignment sale called Just Between Friends is here in Houston. Franchise owners hold these sales specializing in gently used children's clothing, toys and shoes a couple of times a year in cities throughout the country. Discounts are 66 to 75 percent off what retail items cost new. Consigners get at least 65 percent of the money if an item sells, and the franchise owner gets 35 percent.? Just Between Friends will hold sales throughout Houston from now until November 14, 2009.? The current sale is taking place at America's Reception Hall, located at 2311 Canal Street on the east side of downtown Houston.? Parking is plentiful and free. There is no admission cost to attend the sale. The atmosphere is very kid friendly. After noon on Saturday (Sept. 26, 2009) all remaining items will be discounted another 50 percent. Any unsold items are donated to charity or the seller can retrieve them.

"We have some beautiful Christmas dresses and Christmas suits," said Just Between Friends franchise owner Holly Psifidis. "Children usually only wear these once for picture time so they're in great condition and perfect for the upcoming holidays."

They also have Halloween costumes there. Most were selling for $15.? Their original cost was around $50 or $60 ,Psifidis said.

If you and your kids like aquatic life, then check out Sea Center Texas this weekend. It's a marine aquarium plus a working fish hatchery.? Your kids can get as hands-on as they like at exhibits like the crab tank. Don't miss Gordon, the 300 pound-plus grouper. Sea Center Texas is at 300 Medical Drive in Lake Jackson. It is free.? They also have "fishing holes."

Want a free dinner?? If you bring in a stack of newspapers 12 inches high or more, Ikea Furniture Store will give you a free dinner in their store restaurant.

Toys R Us stores are serving up cake and free coloring book activities for kids on Saturday (Sept. 25, 2009) in honor of their mascot, Geoffrey the Giraffe's birthday.? Get there while supplies last.
