HOUSTON-Concerned residents are expected to show up at a Bellaire City Council meeting Monday night to discuss a in the area.
Robert Tolan was in the driveway of his home when he was shot by a Bellaire police officer.
Police initially thought the car Tolan was in was stolen, but it wasn't.
Friends and relatives of Tolan are calling the shooting a case of racial profiling.
"I would like to see the feds come in and examine Bellaire. I would like to see the officer fired and possibly prosecuted," Bellaire parent Gary Washington said.
Washington has three children at Bellaire High School, and a fourth graduated with Tolan.
He said Bellaire officers have constantly harassed his kids.
"He's a student coming from baseball practice, and they want to pull him over and search through his bag and the first question asked of him is 'what are you doing here?' As though somehow or another he doesn't have a right to be in this neighborhood," Washington said of his son.
The assistant city manager said everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, and she did not want to comment on Washington's claims.
But she did say no one has ever filed an official complaint of racial profiling in the City of Bellaire.
Meanwhile, Tolan, who remains hospitalized with a bullet in his liver, is focusing on recovery.
"He's still in a lot of pain," Tolan's attorney, Geoffrey Berg, said.
The Harris County District Attorney's Office is investigating the incident.
