HOUSTON -- There are plenty of quick, easy ways to save a little cash when money is tight.

For example, all of those old electronic devices that are gathering dust in your house can earn you some money!

At Gazelle.com, you can sell old laptops, video games, cell phones and DVDs. All you need to do is fill out a questionnaire about the device or devices you want to sell, and Gazelle.com will make an offer.

Then they e-mail you a shipping label. You just box up your stuff and mail it to them, and then they send you a check or pay you via PayPal.

Another easy way to stretch your dollar is to change your gas-pumping habits.

Ed Gardner, a CPA and financial planner, said you should pump your gas during the coolest time of day or at night.

That's because gas evaporates quickly, and heat speeds up that process.

Gardner also says you should take your time at the pump.

"You know on the nozzle when you fill it up, how it's slow, medium, fast? Everyone does fast. You actually want to pump slow. It takes longer, but there's less evaporation of gas," Gardner said.
