STAFFORD, Texas-A store in Stafford called ReStore is selling building supplies at rock-bottom prices. The store is a Habitat for Humanity project where builders and individuals donate their surplus building supplies, which are then sold to the public. The money is used to build Habitat Homes in Ft. Bend County.
Just as you walk through the door of ReStore, you see a magnificent set of 8-foot mahogany doors that normally sell for $3,200. ReStore is selling them for $950.
The building supply thrift shop also currently has granite for sale for $5 a foot. Normally, the granite would sell for about $150.
"It's brand new granite, never been installed. It was going to be used at an apartment complex," said Melissa Wagner, ReStore manager.
ReStore has everything, including the kitchen sink. Here is a sample price list:
Light fixtures -- $10
Cooktops -- $65
Whirlpool tubs -- $350
Drywall -- $5
Plywood -- $1
Besides Saving Cents in a big way, another benefit of shopping at ReStore is keeping perfectly good building supplies out of landfills, Wagner said. Often builders and individuals throw out surplus supplies after they finish a project, she said.
Re-Store is located at 13570 Murphy Road. Their grand opening is Saturday. Store hours are Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. For more information call: (281) 403-0700.
