SUGAR LAND, Texas -- A six-year-old Sugar Land girl is doing way more than just banging on the keys. She’s making music that’s so good, she’ll soon perform at Carnegie Hall.
Allison Xia is a pint-size pianist with the talent to tickle the ivories beyond her years.
“I like Mozart’s pieces because they’re fun to play and learn,” Xia tells KHOU 11 News.
She’s prepared to practice nonstop this summer as she prepares for a fall concert in New York City.
“I’m both excited and nervous.”
Allison started playing only two years ago, but her mom noticed she was a quick study – picking up piano books and learning them all on her own.
But believe it or not, music doesn’t run in the family. Allison is the only one who plays an instrument.
Her mom made a deal to get her a baby grand piano if she won the competition to get her into Carnegie Hall, and it seems Allison would play it nonstop, if she could, as she says the sound of it never gets old.
