HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -– A night with friends turned into a night of terror for a family in northwest Harris County early Friday morning.

It happened on Silverwyck Drive at Sterling around 2 a.m.

A woman was outside her home saying goodbye to a friend when five men came up and grabbed her and took her inside. Once inside the home, the crooks held the woman’s entire family hostage for about 15 minutes, the victims said.

Her husband Neftali Moreira heard the commotion in the home.

"I went back to my room and closed the door," Moreira said. "I saw everybody had a gun in their hand.

He was spotted by the robbers.

“He put a gun on my head and dropped me on the floor,” said Neftali Moreira. “He said if I move, he will kill me right there on the spot.”

The woman’s daughter and father-in-law were also in the house at the time. They said the robbers kept asking for money and jewelry. The victims said to make it even scarier, the suspects left for a minute and then came back into the home.

When they finally left for good, a deputy spotted them in their stolen pickup. The suspects bailed out and managed to get away, however.

The family’s guitar and other stolen items were found in the back of the truck, and a gun was found in the cab, deputies said.

“I was hoping things would clear up and these guys would eventually leave my family in peace, because that was my biggest concern – my family,” said the father.

The family said they don't know why they were targeted.

No injuries were reported.

One 18-year-old was taken into custody for questioning.
