HOUSTON -- Houston police are investigating what caused a driver to slam head-on into a car at an intersection on the northwest side overnight.
It happened around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on W. Montgomery at S. Victory.
Police said a car making a turn did not yield to an oncoming vehicle.
Five people, including a 13-year-old, were taken to the hospital with various injuries.
“We heard this loud boom,” said area resident Steve Williams. “My wife thought a gun was shot, but not a gun. I got up, put some clothes on, and rushed out. It looked like a head-on collision. The lady that was inside of this one car that was making a left turn had a big gash in head. She was looking really bad.”
Police said charges are likely in the case as the driver at-fault for the crash was allegedly driving drunk.
Police also said street racing may have played a role in the crash.
