HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A four-vehicle crash that briefly closed the North Freeway resulted in an arrest early Monday morning, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.
It all happened near the exit for Airtex around 1:30 a.m.
Deputies at the scene said an SUV and a car collided while traveling in the northbound lanes. The man driving the SUV then cut across the lanes and was struck by a Dodge van, which was then struck from behind by an 18-wheeler. The van, which had a large family inside, rolled when it hit a concrete barrier.
Deputies said the male driver of the SUV exited the freeway following the crash and went to a nearby lot to look at RV’s. Harris County deputies caught up with him and later said they took him into custody.
Out of all four vehicles involved in the crash, there were only minor cuts and bruises reported.
