PEARLAND, Texas – Four suspects are in custody after an attempted robbery in the parking lot of a Pearland convenience store Monday afternoon, police said.

According to the Pearland Police Department, the robbery happened at near the business, located in the 4700 block of West Orange, when a 38-year-old store employee was assaulted by the suspects before they fled the scene.

After a brief pursuit, Pearland police, with the help of Houston police, were able to take the four suspects into custody, police said. The pursuit ended along Roandale, just north of East Orem in southeast Houston.

The manager of the convenience store said the suspects were apprehended because police responded so quickly.

“There are too many people out here that don’t have concern for anybody else, except themselves, they go out and beat people… for a few dollars, even, it’s just be a bad situation,” a customer said.

The employee who was assaulted did not have any major injuries, mostly cuts and bruises.
