HOUSTON – Four people who led Houston police on a chase in northwest Houston Tuesday night were hospitalized after crashing into a tree.

An officer with the HPD gang reduction unit was patrolling an apartment complex known for drugs, gangs and gun violence when he spotted four individuals in a parking lot. All four were wearing the same green color, which is known for a certain gang.

As the officer approached their vehicle, the suspects sped off and a chase began. The suspects led the officer on a chase south on Hollister, then curved onto Emnora, where the driver lost control and slammed into a tree.

The male driver was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Two more males and a female were also taken to the hospital, but their conditions were unknown.

Police recovered a gun and drugs in the vehicle.
