HOUSTON – Four men were taken into custody following a break-in at the Houston Association of Realtors office along the Southwest Freeway early Monday.
Police believe the suspects may have also been involved in other crimes. The Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council office on the other side of the freeway was also broken into earlier in the morning.
Investigators hope surveillance cameras will reveal more information.
According to officers with the Houston Police Department, two men were found breaking into the HAR building while two others were found next door in what appeared to be a getaway car.
Police said the key to the car was with one of the burglars in the building.
“We checked the suspects and he had a key to the car they were in so we’re investigating that right now,” said Lt. Larry Crowson with the Houston Police Department.
Both a front and rear window were broken on the HAR building, which is located near Edloe Street.
“They used a hammer to break in,” Lt. Crowson said.
It was not clear why the men targeted the buildings. Larry Washington is responsible for the HAR building and said there was nothing of value to take.
Investigators believe the buildings might have seemed like easy targets because of big glass windows on their ground floors.
