HOUSTON – Several people were injured after a four-car pileup on the North Freeway overnight, police said.

According to the Houston Police Department, it happened at 1:20 a.m. in the northbound lanes near West Mount Houston.

It started after a minor accident involving a Harris County Precinct 1 deputy constable. Traffic was slowing around the crash, when one driver was hit from behind.

It sparked a chain reaction crash.

Fire crews had to use the "jaws of life" to remove some people from their cars. No one was seriously hurt.
