LA MARQUE, Texas – According to police, a Texas City father was under the influence when he lost control of his vehicle with all four of his children in the car and crashed.
The accident happened around noon on the Gulf Freeway near Highway 146.
Jesse Galicia lost control of his SUV and flipped over on the main highway onto the feeder road.
His three other children were taken to the hospital. The 7-month-old baby was in good condition. The 5-year-old girl and 2-year-old boy were in critical condition.
The children's mother said she found out about the accident when her mother-in-law called her.
"I know he has been stresing, but I did not know he was taking anything," said Hillary Alaniz, the children's mother. "I always told him not to drive if he was on anything."
Alaniz is now trying to raise money for her son's funeral.
Galicia has been charged with driving under the influence and tampering with evidence. He is being held on a $310,000 bond.
