HOUSTON – A 3-year-old boy drowned late Saturday while swimming in an east Houston apartment community pool.
The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. at the Timber Ridge apartments, located at 12200 Fleming.
According to police, the 3-year-old boy was swimming when his aunt, who was in charge of watching the boy, lost track of him. She started screaming for the boy before finding him at the bottom of the pool.
Neighbors rushed to help and performed CPR on the boy while HPD officers were assisting.
The boy was transported to East Houston Hospital, where he later died.
Police were questioning the boy’s aunt on her reason for losing track of him. Officers would not speculate, but confirmed she had not been drinking.
