HOUSTON – Three men were on the run overnight after they opened fire on two brothers they got into an argument with. The shooting led to a chase that ended with a crash, police said.

One person was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the back, according to the Houston Police Department.

It was reported around 10 p.m. Wednesday on Aledo near Duane in south Houston.

Police said the shooting started as an altercation between two drivers about a mile from the scene. HPD said two men, who are brothers, got out of their car to confront the suspects in a stolen Kia. The men in the Kia opened fire through the windshield, and the brothers jumped back in their car.

The brothers chased the suspects through a nearby neighborhood, but the chase came to an end when the suspects crashed their stolen Kia through a fence and into someone’s backyard, police said.

Police said the suspects ran away on foot, but the brothers, one of whom was shot, stayed to talk with police. The shooting victim was sent to Ben Taub Hospital in serious but stable condition.
