HOUSTON—Traffic along the Beltway in southeast Houston shut down for several hours Saturday night due to a major three-car crash, according to a spokeswoman for the Harris County Precinct 7 Constable’s Office.

Four adults were involved, and the Jaws of Life had to be used on two vehicles, according to authorities.

The accident took place around 7:30 p.m., between 288 and Wayside Dr. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

The vehicles involved include a maroon 2012 Chevy SUV, a white 2005 Chrysler 4-door and a white 2005 Chevy Malibu.

All four victims were in hospitals in critical condition Saturday night.
