Highway 290 open again after truck, deputy crash

HOUSTON –- A heavy truck carrying sand overturned on Highway 290 early Friday, blocking all outbound traffic in the Cypress area.

A sheriff's deputy reportedly crashed into the wrecked truck, but he was not injured.

The accident was reported near Bauer around 5:27 a.m., according to Houston TranStar. The outbound lanes did not reopen until after 1 p.m.

The truck driver was sent to the hospital.
