HUMBLE, Texas -- A 28-year-old mother was attacked and robbed while running at a park in Humble Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened at Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens, located in the 22300 block of Aldine Westfield Road.

The woman said she just finished her 4-mile run when the man came out of nowhere.

"I could've been raped and chopped into little pieces by the time they got there,” said the victim. “I called 911 twice.”

The victim had her headphones on and couldn't hear anything.

"I always run with my headphones on, even in my neighborhood,” said the victim.

The man punched her in the head and knocked her to the ground. The news was shocking to those who frequent the park.

"A lot of times they will post a sign that says something happened." said Harold Williams, a visitor.

Now visitors are protecting themselves. One man carries a stick with him.

"I brought this just for walking," said Williams. "Carry some mace, a taser or something. Women are more vulnerable than men are." said Dawn Holmes, a visitor.

The suspect got away with a cell phone that doesn't work. She couldn't get a description of the suspect because his hoodie was covering his face.
