HARRIS COUNTY – Harris County investigators are baffled by the murders of a Cypress couple and their two young sons, ages 7 and 9. They are pleading with the public to help catch the killer or killers.
"We are asking for your cooperation, support and patience. It’s baffling how anyone has it within them to take the lives of children," said HCSO Sgt. Felipe Rivera.
The victims were found shot to death on January 30th in their home in the 14000 block of Fosters Creek. They all had gunshot wounds to the head.
Harris County deputies went to check on the family because the father hadn’t shown up for work. He was a mechanical engineer at Cameron.
They found the back door of the home open and believe the victims may have been dead for as many as four days.
Investigators are not releasing the victims’ names because they are still trying to notify relatives.
The victims were U.S. citizens but they may have relatives in China.
"It’s bad enough that the two adults were found dead—but even worse, two small children both under the age of 10," said Sheriff Adrian Garcia. "As a daddy myself, this especially strikes a nerve for me."
"It’s scary, knowing it happened in this nice neighborhood. You don’t think it would happen around here," said Benny Timez who lives nearby.
The sheriff vowed to track down the killers.
"Rest assured, our investigators will find the person(s) responsible and bring justice to the family," Garcia said. "Have humanity and turn yourself in."
Investigators are asking the public to "rack their brains and provide any information they can."
They even conducted the news conference in Mandarin Chinese -- along with English and Spanish -- and urged members of Houston's Chinese community to come forward with information.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip at #CrimeStopHOU or to iWatchHarrisCounty.
