MISSOURI CITY, Texas – Two brothers in Missouri City had quite the scare Friday morning as they were home alone as burglars broke in.
The 13-year-old was forced into a closet at the home in the 2000 block of Fifth Street, but his 11-year-old brother managed to run out of the front for help.
According to the Missouri City Police Department, the suspects broke in through the back door. The younger boy was able to flag down help and 911 was called, but he was worried his big brother might have been snatched.
“The juvenile that made contact with the citizen was under the impression that the intruders may have taken his brother that’s how it came in as a kidnapping and in all actually it was probably a residential burglary and they just happened to be home at the time,” MCPD Lt. Paul Poulton said.
Luckily, the big brother was OK in a closet. Neighbors say police got to the scene quickly.
So even though the boys were probably terrified, police believe the brothers might have actually spooked the suspects because it doesn’t appear anything was taken.
