HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- A woman died after another driver hit her vehicle head-on, causing it to collide with a pickup truck on FM-1960 near Humble late Thursday, deputies said.

Firefighters from both Atascocita and Humble responded to the accident near Moonshine Hill Road at 9:05 p.m.

According to investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a woman driving a Saturn Ion westbound on 1960 went into the eastbound lanes and hit a Honda Civic. An oncoming pickup truck driver couldn’t stop in time and hit the Civic as it spun around.

The driver of the Civic, identified as Elinor Sharon, was sent to the hospital in critical condition and later died. The driver of the Saturn, identified as Maria Hernandez, was sent to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

Deputies said the married couple in the pickup truck was not injured.
