HARRIS COUNTY – A house fire Friday night led to the discovery of a marijuana grow house in northeast Harris County, fire officials said.
According to the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office, the Huffman Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire at 11:30 p.m. at 94 Ash Place. After putting the fire out fire, crews discovered there was apparent indoor marijuana grow operation inside of the house.
“Investigators from the Fire Marshal’s Office were called to assist and found evidence of an indoor marijuana grow operation with approximately 15 plants,” said Lt. Dean Hensley with the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office.
The occupants of the house confessed to investigators that they were growing their own marijuana.
The suspects were identified as 35-year-old Herman Toney and 40-year-old Shelley Sheffield.
Both suspects were charged with possession of marijuana and booked into the Harris County jail.
