HOUSTON — An argument between two men at NOX nightclub in Houston, escalated into a fatal shooting early Christmas Day.
The incident happened around 2 a.m. Wednesday, as the club was closing.
According to HPD, the shooting between Patrick Prince and Brian Washington happened in a crowded parking lot.
Prince, detectives say, fired several shots at Washington, before Washington got out his own gun and fired back, hitting Prince at least once.
Washington died at the scene, and Prince was taken to Ben Taub Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Brian Washington’s uncle, Leonard, said the 30-year old was in his car, trying to drive away, when the shooting happened.
“This is one of those situations where he was defending himself,” said Leonard.
Leonard did now want to share his last name, but said his nephew was a father to an 8-year-old daughter.
“He wasn’t that type of young man who was going to go out and start any violence or anything like that,” he said, “it’s a shame this is the way his life ended.”
He said on a day when many families rejoice, Washington’s family is in mourning.
“Christmas will never be the same for the whole family,” he said.
NOX, which is located just north of Washington Avenue, made headlines a few months ago when singer Justin Beiber – underage – was seen partying at the 21 and up nightclub.
It’s unclear what the motive was behind the shooting, but police say they are still looking for the two guns that were used.
