HOUSTON—Two people were killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Eastex Freeway at Hartwick Friday morning.
Police said a man and a woman were traveling north on the freeway around 3:30 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, the driver veered onto the shoulder, hit a guard rail, flipped and slammed into a metal pole.
The top of the SUV was completely smashed by the impact.
Investigators said both occupants died at the scene.
Police said there were no witnesses, and the cause of the crash was not yet known.
