HOUSTON – A high-speed crash on Westheimer Road led to two people being sent to the hospital early Thursday morning, police said.

The crash happened on Westheimer Road at Westheimer Parkway around 2:20 a.m., according to Houston police.

Officers said a silver Honda sedan was traveling eastbound when its driver lost control and struck a curb. The vehicle then hit a hydrant and slammed into a shopping center sign, splitting the car in two.

The male driver was sent to the hospital in stable condition. A female passenger was sent to the hospital in critical condition.

No other cars were involved in the crash.
