HOUSTON –- Houston police said one of two drivers injured in a violent collision early Monday will be charged with intoxication assault.
The crash happened on Reveille Street at Dixie Drive around 2:15 a.m., according to the Houston Police Department. The first officers on the scene found a crushed sedan and a truck on its side in the front yard of a home.
HPD said there were no witnesses to the crash, but evidence at the scene suggested the white car was traveling northbound when it t-boned a pickup heading eastbound. Police said the car was traveling at speeds up to 80 miles per hour when it slammed into the truck, knocking it onto its side.
Firefighters had to cut through the roof of the truck to help free its driver. Both drivers were sent to the hospital in serious condition and were expected to survive.
Police said the driver of the sedan appeared to be at-fault in the crash and the district attorney accepted an intoxication assault charge against the man.
