2 drivers critically injured in north Houston crash

HOUSTON — Two drivers were critically injured Tuesday night when their vehicles collided in north Houston.

According to Houston police, a car traveling westbound on Rittenhouse attempted to cross N. Shepherd around 9:45 p.m., but crossed in front of an SUV. The SUV driver tried to slam on her brakes, but it was too late.

The SUV crashed into the side of the car, sending both vehicles flying into a parking lot, where the SUV hit a pole.

The SUV driver had to be extracted from the vehicle and was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition.

The man who was driving the car was also transported to the hospital in critical condition.
