LEAGUE CITY, Texas—Two people who suffered facial injuries were charged with assaulting police officers at the city’s jail, authorities said Wednesday.
Emanuel Gomez, 24, and Nancy Montes, 23, remained jailed Wednesday, each on one count of assault on a public servant, stemming from an early Monday morning traffic stop, League City police Sgt. John Jordan said.
An officer stopped the pair in the Calder Road Urgent Care parking lot, 1108 Gulf Freeway, and accused them of refusing to comply with orders. Other officers arrived, but the pair, who emitted the odor of alcohol, continued to ignore the officers’ commands, Jordan said.
Police accused the pair of struggling with the officers who arrested them.
