HOUSTON – Wednesday will be another steamy hot late August day for the Houston area, but we are facing increasing chances of rain due to Hurricane Isaac, KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Chita Johnson said.
The day kicked off with lows in the upper 70s and highs were expected to peak around 96 degrees.
Johnson said there wasa 30-percent chance of rain Wednesday, especially in areas to the east of Houston that are closer to Louisiana. The rain chance drops to 20 percent Thursday, although the seven-day forecast shows rain is possible through the end of the week.
Afternoon high temperatures will remain in the mid-90s.
Meanwhile, Isaac made landfall as a category 1 hurricane around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday in southeast Louisiana with winds near 80 mph. The storm then stalled out, briefly going back off the coast before making a second landfall and moving inland again early Wednesday morning. Isaac's forecast track has it moving north-northwest through the state of Louisiana.
