HOUSTON – A woman died and two other adults were injured in a rollover crash in the 12200 block of Highway 288 early Friday morning.
The crash closed the southbound lanes of the freeway at Orem shortly after 2:20 a.m., according to Houston TranStar.
The driver of a green Chevrolet Trailblazer was driving southbound on the South Freeway, missed the West Orem exit and then attempted to cross three lanes of traffic, witnesses told police. The Trailblazer then drove onto the grassy median and the driver attempted to get back onto the South Freeway. Police said the driver was unable to regain control the vehicle and it rolled several times, ejecting the two passengers.
A 38-year-old woman who was one of the passengers died at the scene, the other passenger was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital. The driver of the Trailblazer was also transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital. He and the surviving passenger received non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The freeway was closed to southbound traffic for more than four hours.
No charges have been filed and the investigation is continuing, police said.
