HOUSTON – Hundreds huddled on Discovery Green in a rally against hate on Saturday.
“It was not a good campaign for both sides,” said Angel Garcia, a protester.
Most of the protesters are part of the city’s political left. More than disdain for President-Elect Donald Trump, the group feels too few Texans voted in Tuesday’s election.
So on Saturday, they met to talk politics and strategies to affect change.
Since Tuesday, anti-trump protests have spread across the country from Portland to New York. Some even turned ugly with vandalism.
Police made sure only words did damage in Houston. Protesters simply held signs, signed petitions and talked change. Some called for both Republicans and Democrats to focus on policy.
“I think the emphasis is on hate,” Garcia said. “I think that emphasis is too many personal attacks from both sides.
