HOUSTON -- Two women are accused of posing as a real estate agent and prospective buyer to burglarize a house in the Heights, Houston police said.

It happened in the 700 block of E. 17th Street at about 1:20 p.m. on July 5.

I was pretty angry, Willa White said.

The two women wanted to see her home and claimed to be a real estate agent and a buyer out of Galveston. They allegedly called her Realtor last minute to say they were close by.

When they arrived, White reluctantly let them in.

Police said the women had given the license number and name of a legitimate real estate agent to obtain permission to enter. Once inside, they allegedly took watches, jewelry and a credit card.

Police soon started tracking the women when they started making charges near their homes.

According to Officer Natalie Barnes with the Houston Police Department, the women shopped at a Walgreens and at a TGF Hair Salon in Baytown.

It led them to 40-year-old Rebecca Bench, who is now in custody. Her alleged accomplice, 41-year old Laura Campas, is still at large.

Investigators said the women also burglarized a home in the 2000 block of Welch in River Oaks on July 19.

It s believed that they may have done this multiple times, Officer Barnes said. In some instances, they may not have taken anything because they were guided through with another real estate agent.

The women are believed to have stolen more than $30,000 in items. So far none of it has been recovered.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the HPDBurglary and Theft Division at 713-308-0900 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
