Renee Williams weighed in at 873 pounds
That was more than a year ago.
The 29-year-old wanted a gastric bypass weight loss surgery.
But that would take time.
Time is something Williams didn't think she had. “Without the surgery there’s 100 percent guarantee I won’t make it.”
You see, in a four year period a dozen doctors turned down Williams.
But surgeons here at Houston’s Renaissance Hospital agreed to take on the high risk case.
It took two operating tables to handle her girth.
A surgery that normally takes an hour or two took five.
And patients with a body mass index over 40 are considered morbidly obese.
Renee Williams’ is 137.
Dr. Younan Nowzaradan is Williams’ bariatric surgeon. “The road is not over for her there are complications that could happen but if she pulls through three years from now she’ll be a person less than 200 pounds.”
That will give Williams freedom. That’s something she’s wanted for a long time.
You see, Williams hasn’t been able to walk since her left leg was crushed four years ago when a drunk driver crashed into her SUV.
If she can lose enough weight, that injury can finally be repaired.
“It’s for me but it’s , I want to do it for my daughters also. They already missed out on having their Mom long enough,” said Williams.
If the gastric bypass surgery is a success Renee Williams will lose 650 pounds in three years.
