Montgomery County confirms first Zika case

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – A pregnant woman who traveled out of the country has been diagnosed with Zika.

It’s the county’s first case of the mosquito-borne virus.

County officials said the woman traveled to a Zika-infected region. Officials didn’t specify where.

“I am conferring with the appropriate public health and county officials on our mosquito abatement efforts to ensure Montgomery County is taking appropriate steps to aid in mosquito control,” said County Judge Craig Doyal.

Doyal advises residents to take precaution to protect themselves from mosquitoes and take needed steps to control mosquitoes around their homes.
