SAN ANTONIO -- A San Antonio woman is the proud new mother of identical triplets whose names are as unique as their existence.
It's a bit of a tongue twister.
"The Z's are tricky," Jazmyne Valerie said about her babies' names.
Za'Nirah, Za'Niyah and Za'Mirah were born on July 8. And almost as rare as their names, Valerie's doctor explained that identical multiple sets of babies are very uncommon without the use of fertility drugs.
Valerie was shocked when the doctor first showed her the ultrasound.
"She said, 'Are you ready?' She said, 'Baby A, Baby B and Baby C,'" Valerie recalled. "I fell."
Her family and friends were in shock, too.
"I called my sisters and told my dad, and they were like, 'What triplets? We don't have triplets in our family,'" Valerie said.
But the ultrasound doesn't lie.
"A lot of people that want babies go to the fertility clinic," Valerie said. "I just got the draw of the luck."
But these are not mom's first babies. Valerie already has three other little ones.
"It's gonna be hard," she said.
She's just happy her babies are all doing well so far. They will be in ICU at Northeast Baptist Hospital for about another month and a half before making the journey home.
Mom is ready for them to come home.
"I'm ready for the new journey to start," she said.
