HOUSTON -- A mother says the Houston Independent School District isn’t taking her daughter’s bullying complaints seriously.

Eight-year-old Nastasia has spina bifida and is in the third grade at Franklin Elementary School.

Because of her condition, Nastasia must wear a diaper. She says she’s frequently bullied to tears.

"They be mean to me, but I tell them to stop because I'm not going to tolerate them, and they still don't listen and they still do it,” said Nastasia.

School officials plan to meet with Nastasia's mom, Yvonne Estala, Tuesday morning.

Estala says she is not optimistic anything will change.
