HDHHS to target high-risk groups with new H1N1 vaccine shipment

HOUSTON—The Houston Department of Health and Human Services will offer injectable H1N1 vaccines to people in high-risk groups starting Monday, Nov. 16.

HDHHS received a new H1N1 vaccine shipment with 16,000 doses on Thursday and will use them to immunize pregnant women, children 6 months and older, children with chronic conditions and household contacts and caregivers of children younger than 6 months of age.

HDHHS will offer the vaccines on a first-come, first-served basis at seven sites on Mondays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesdays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The vaccination sites are:

  • Acres Home Multi-Service Center, 6719 W. Montgomery, 77091
  • La Nueva  Casa De  Amigos Health Center, 1809 North Main, 77009
  • Lyons Health Center, 5602 Lyons, 77020
  • Magnolia Health Center, 7037 Capitol, 77011
  • Northside Health Center, 8523 Arkansas, 77093
  • Southwest WIC, 6400 High Star, 77074
  • Sunnyside Multi-Service Center, 4605 Wilmington, 77051
