HOUSTON -- It is the most promising news yet on former President George H.W. Bush’s condition.
On Saturday night his spokesman, Jim McGrath, released a statement. It read in part that “we are hopeful he can be discharged this coming week, but we’re still taking everything one day at a time.”
According to the TC Palm newspaper in Florida, the discharge could come as soon as Monday.
Former Governor Jeb Bush told that to an audience in Vero Beach, the paper reported.
Bush has been hospitalized at the Methodist Hospital in Houston since November 23.
He was initially admitted for a bronchitis-related cough. He was later admitted into the ICU with a fever.
His condition has since improved and the former President even joked “please put the harps back in the closet.”
