Tuesday, the Greater Houston Partnership and Harris County Judge Ed Emmett will host a Pandemic Influenza Summit in downtown Houston.? The event will start at 7 a.m. and run to 4 p.m.? It all costs $125.? The event will provide guidance and support to the business community, who could see huge employee absences if there is a spree of H1N1 cases.

Leaders hope to give business owners the tools to deal with the potential effects of an H1N1 outbreak. Some of the featured speakers include Dr. David E. Persse, Physician Director of Emergency Medical Services and Dr. Herminia Palacio, MPH Executive Director of the Department of Health and Human Services.

The interactive sessions will provide employers with background information on influenza and business continuity, such as maintaining essential services, communication procedures, human resource and legal employment issues.? Employers will also learn to identify the trigger point for plan execution.

But what about creating a personal H1N1 plan?? The Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services Web site, , took the guidance released by the CDC and translated it in layman's terms.? The site has helpful links for parents and caregivers.
