HOUSTON – Classics never die – at least that’s what the designer of Chaplon Clothing said last night at his second annual fashion show.

With dramatic music and a fog of smoke, the models at the second annual Classics Never Die Fashion show took to the catwalk.
The trendy show, which was held in the Venue, attracted hundreds of people who were anticipating the designers new collection.
“This is our second year and it keeps growing,” said Chaplon, designer.
The 23-year-old Houstonian started his collection three years ago. His line can be found in stores like 467 in the Galleria and A-Front on Washington. He also sells online.
The show was a flawless production with live music, smoke machines and dramatic lighting, but Chaplon said it's his passion that keeps him going.
“Designing has always been a calling and passion of mine. The line started after I had designed something for myself, and people saw it and wanted it for themselves,” said Chaplon.

From there, his collection has grown. His online store currently has 21 different designs with more in development. Chaplon's style takes original hip-hop and skateboard culture, and fuses it with nostalgic graffiti. The lines are simple and clean, yet bold.
“I get my inspiration from music, and then start sketching the designs,” said Chaplon.
The show on Thanksgiving night also highlighted two other local designers.
Wil Wayne’s latest collection was the first to hit the runway. His female collection contained sexy short shorts and tees accented with wide belts and bright colors. It was casual wear with flair. But while the women’s wear was simple, the menswear was more complicated.
The male models strutted out in layers that consisted of vests, tees and scarves. Fur accents also made their appearance in the way of scarves.
Following Wil Wayne’s line, was the collection from Houston’s Melodrama Boutique located on Almeda. Keeping with the theme of the evening that classics never die, the line was sophisticated and contemporary.
Ranging from daywear, to clubwear, to eveningwear, the collection complimented the female form with simple lines that accented a woman’s natural curves.
Throughout the night, the 30 models paraded down the catwalk while a live band played behind them. But it was the fashion that kept the spectators glued to their seats.
“Classics defy boundaries. They cannot be held by time, place and culture. They are what they are,” said Bar None, the host of the evening.
Based on the response of the audience, just like Chaplon’s tagline of “Classics never die,” neither will his designs.
