HOUSTON -- Houston police said a man was sent to the hospital early Tuesday with a gunshot wound after two women he met at a club tried to rob him.
According to officers with the Houston Police Department, it was around 2 a.m. when the man was taking the women to the Mainridge Apartments in the 2600 block of Westridge, not far from Reliant Stadium.
Police said when they arrived, a man with a gun approached and joined the women. The suspects then tried to rob the male victim and take his car. Police said the victim put his vehicle in reverse and started to flee, and that’s when several shots were fired.
The man was shot once in his chin, and he crashed into Onnita Crissmon’s apartment.
“I heard a bam,” Crissmon said. “I thought it was a tornado. When I jumped up, it was a car in between my bedroom and my living room.”
“(The victim) got out the car holding his face,” said James Harden, a neighbor. “He had a gunshot in his jaw.”
Officers said the victim will survive. Still, the mess made it hard for Crissmon to find her son.
“I was scared at first,” Crissmon said. “But, I’m happy to be alive and you know my son’s okay. You know, that’s it.”
Police would like to find the shooter and the women who lured the victim.
