HOUSTON – A 48-year-old Crosby man is accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl, promising the teen clothing and food in exchange for her cooperation, according to investigators.
Patrick Dale Earvin is charged with sexual assault of a child.
According to court documents, a Texas DPS trooper pulled Earvin and the teen over on August 8, 2012.
Since Earvin was a registered sex offender, the trooper was suspicious about his relationship with the girl.
When he asked Earvin about her, the trooper said he got conflicting stories, so he took them in for questioning.
The teen reportedly told investigators that Earvin was a friend of her mother’s whom she knew as "Star."
The teen told investigators that Earvin had photographed her naked and sexually assaulted her at a motel room in Channelview on August 7, 2012.
Investigators said the victim showed them photos that Earvin had taken of her. She said on at least three occasions, Earvin picked her up at her home in Beaumont and took her to a motel in the Channelview area, where he would sexually assault her.
She said she knew if she went with him, she would have to perform sexual favors, but she did it so he would buy her clothes and food.
Charges were filed against Earvin on August 9.
He was being held without bond Monday.
