HOUSTON – Houston’s Hermann Park turns 100 this year and to celebrate, work by nine artists will be installed throughout the Park, including one in the train tunnel.

The mural creation is stunning visitors with bursts of color.  The work isn’t finished yet, but will become a birthday gift to Hermann Park and its millions of visitors.

“I wanted people to have a sense of wonderment,” said artist Trenton Doyle Hancock.

The Houston-area artist loaded a mural with bright color, colorful characters and so many scenes you have to pass through again and again to see them all.

“Hopefully people, each time they ride the train, will notice maybe a new creature, or a new color or a new texture,” he said.

The new art is shining all over Hermann Park.

“When public art appears in a place you think you know really well. Suddenly you get this surprise of seeing something in a new way,” said Doreen Stoller, Hermann Park Conservancy, executive director.
