HOUSTON – Police are searching for a man responsible for six robberies at different gas stations in west and northwest Houston during the last two months.
The robberies happened on Westview, Clay and West 43rd streets with the victims all sharing the same story. The Conoco on Westview has been robbed three times.
The suspect walks in with sunglasses, a back pack and either a hoodie or a baseball cap.
One victim said that the suspect, brandishing a handgun, demanded money, and all he could think about was getting out alive.
In other cases, the suspects also demanded cigarettes, said Jose Guvera, another store clerk.
“Either he has a really bad smoking habit or he’s selling them on the black market something like that. Not really sure,” said Det. Russell Gray, with the Houston Police Department.
In the surveillance video, the clerks can be seen shuffling to give him Marlboro’s, and the suspect shoves them in a backpack and calmly makes his way out. Clerks are now relying on each other.
One victim said that they are coordinating closely with other employees to keep an eye out for the suspect and any other suspicious activity.
Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
