HOUSTON—Several teenagers were arrested after leading officers on a chase and crashing in northeast Harris County Wednesday morning, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Precinct 3 deputy constables were chasing a stolen truck around 10:40 a.m. when it crashed in the 200 block of W. Thorn.
"They drove around in the neighborhood trying to get away from the deputy at which point they went up on a curb and the curb folded the front wheel under," said Precinct 3 Deputy Constable Jon Moore.
Several people bailed out of the vehicle. A Harris County Sheriff’s deputy managed to capture the 18-year-old driver after deploying a stun gun.
An 18-year-old woman was caught nearby.
Precinct 3 and Harris County deputies set up a perimeter and began an active search for the suspects. Officers later found three 16-year-old suspects hiding in a home in the area and placed them under arrest. One of the teens lives in the home, according to deputies.
Officers say they found a stolen handgun and some marijuana in the truck.
Cunningham Middle School and Tice Elementary School were near the end of the crash scene. They were both placed on lockdown until the suspects were caught.
Campus crisis teams were on both campuses and deputies were also providing security. Parents were being notified about the situation, according to Galena Park ISD.
