ROSENBERG, TEXAS - FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – A woman found dead after a house fire in Rosenberg Saturday has been identified.

The body of 32-year-old Nancy Marie Dean was found after firefighters put out the fire in her house on Cotter Lane, according to Rosenberg police. Dean’s body was found in the bedroom where investigators say the fire started.

Investigators opened a criminal investigation after circumstances surrounding the scene seemed suspicious.

Dean’s car was later found abandoned at the Williamsburg apartments a few miles away.  Police aren't saying if anything else was stolen.

Neighbors say Dean was new to the area and kept to herself.  Even though they didn't know her, some said they would pray for peace for the family.

"I prayed for her, I prayed for her family," said Wendy Gonzales.

Other neighbors say Dean had been renovating the home herself and worked on it nearly every day.

Monday, family friends  were boarding it up.

Anyone with information is asked to call Rosenberg Police at 832-595-3700.
