DAYTON, Texas -- A 17-year-old boy was struck and killed late Monday in Dayton, and a woman is facing charges for the incident, according to authorities.
Investigators say the woman struck the teen on FM 1409 at County Road 456, and then she left the scene. Police say she later returned and confessed she had been drinking.
The woman allegedly thought she hit an animal, not a person.
The woman is charged with failure to stop and render aid, but she may also face DWI and intoxication manslaughter charges, according to police.
The identities of the victim and the suspect have not been released.
