Woman accused of forcing teen into sex slavery appears before judge

Prosecutors revealed new information on the 19-year-old woman accused of forcing a girl into sex slavery.

HOUSTON – Prosecutors revealed new information on the 19-year-old woman accused of forcing a girl into sex slavery.

A judge gave Denise Coronado a $100,000 bond. She’s charged with compelling prostitution of a minor.

A 14-year-old girl told police she was stuffed into a van as she was walking down the street. She was taken to a Houston motel and introduced to Coronado earlier this month.

Prosecutors said Coronado took photos of the girl and uploaded them on a website known for prostitution.

Investigators said Coronado verbally threatened the girl into sleeping with 26 men in about one week. The girl, prosecutors say, was able to escape.

“She’s very traumatized. She’s back with family. She’s doing well, all things considered, but she is traumatized,” Joanne Musick, prosecutor with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, said.

Prosecutors said there could be more to the investigation, possibly other victims or arrests.

Coronado has two prior assault convictions. If found guilty in this case, the 19-year-old could spend the rest of her life in prison.
