Uber driver charged with sexual assault

HOUSTON – An Uber driver has been charged with sexual assault after Houston police say he took a woman to his apartment after she requested a ride.

Duncan Brown, 57, was arrested April 1.

Uber is a smartphone application-based ride-sharing service that allows users to request a ride through a phone app. The company is based out of San Francisco, Calif.

The victim told police she was drinking at a Houston night club in January when she requested an Uber driver to take her back to her hotel at the Crowne Plaza. Instead, the driver took her to his apartment in the 9500 block of Wilcrest Drive, according to Houston police.

Duncan told police that he and the woman had sex and he left for work in the morning.

The woman told police she woke up in the morning with no recollection of where she was or how she got to Duncan's apartment. She said she left his apartment and called police.
